My cousin, Jason, graduated from UNLV and got his Doctorate of Dental Medicine! Hooray! I'm sure it's been a long 4 years for him and his family. We were able to go down for 2 days (more like 36 hours) and celebrate with him. While we were there, we went to this place called Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Why? watching Kyle drive his own mini car. He could barely see over the top. Most of the time he leaned to the side and looked like a pimp driving a car. He would just look at other kids if they got near him as if he was daring them to touch his car. He did, actually, really well for a kid who isn't quite 3. it was so fun for them to drive their OWN car. They are still talking about it.

In case you didn't get the memo....
Ever since we talked about getting pregnant, Kevin has told me it was a girl. Justin decided early on that it was a girl and wouldn't even TALK about it MAYBE being a boy. He said, "We have 4 boys". He wanted 2 girls in the family and would tell everyone it was a girl.
Well, Justin AND Kevin got their wish. IT'S A GIRL!!! I'm a bit nervous, I'll be honest. I'm excited to make a cute quilt(s), shoes and dresses/headbands. But...I'm still nervous. Boys are just EASY. Kevin reminded me, ever so gently, that I'd have to do this little girl's hair every day. I just laughed. I said, well that would be easy for the first few years. I was bald, Kevin was bald, James, Justin and Kyle were all bald. I didn't have enough hair to do much with until about 18 months old. I think I'm good!!

Easter goggles
The little boys had a lot of fun dying easter eggs with Kevin’s brother, Kenny and family. Thank you Sarah for providing the dye kits! They actually didn’t make a mess. There were a few cracked eggs, but nothing major!
The boys got swim goggles for Easter as well as a sprinkler/water toy. Justin wanted to use it THAT day. I had to explain to him it is a BIT too cold right now. (we had snow flurries yesterday morning). Every day he asks if its summer so he can hook it up. I at least let them use the goggles in the bathtub!

another one down!
Seriously .. I made this in one day. All of it! it was super easy. 5 blocks (2 pink and 3 red) and it was all done. I like projects like that! I really liked the background fabric too.
I did also, which you can't see very well--did stippling on it! It is so much fun. I actually did it on both of them. I'm getting better at it.
I really like this background! I used the Lilly & Will for Moda fabric.

Justin's 5th birthday
Justin--we have loved watching you grow and learn every year. You are a passionate little boy who loves his "special things". We love watching you play with your brothers and laugh together. You remind us all to love life and remember every little thing. You help us remember to be excited for the small things that are given to us and treat everything as if it's the biggest, most important thing in our life. We can't wait for you to start your school life and learn even more and absorb the world around you. We love to see how important family and friends are to you and how much you miss them when you are not with them. You are a true friend who cares deeply for others. You truly love others and we hope you never forget this special trait you carry. Happy 5th birthday Justin Robert Potter Superhero Gus, or as you write, JustinRPSG.
WE LOVE YOU JUSTIN!!

Trying to be a good mom….
These past few weeks I have not been able to be in the running for mother of the year—or even mother of the week. I’ve hardly been around, the kids have been at sitters or had Nana here at the house. They don’t really mind, I mean, I’m sure the other sitters (who have kids for them to play with) are much cooler than I am! and MUCH more fun. I’ve been at school studying for my midterms and other quizzes that I’ve been plain exhausted every day. Not to mention I watch some neighbor boys in the morning until school, so I have to get up before my kids do. I have been short with my kids, frustrated with my class and taking it out on them. Kevin, bless his soul, has been playing Mr. Mom the best he can. He’s been doing so many dishes!! I am very grateful for all of his help and (ahem) patience with me!!
So..today, I thought I’d let the boys play with flour. I don’t do it often, because it makes SUCH a mess—but I know they needed a new distraction. So at least for the hour I’m trying to be a good mom!!
