Sick--woe is me

So these last few days have not been fun at all. Being sick is not fun at all. I don't normally get chest colds, but I got a whopper this time. I can handle head colds. It just feels like you got ran over with a train, am I right? This chest stuff, and pregnancy is for the birds. Trying to get a deep enough breath and then cough is a joke. Trying to sleep and do this is out of the question. So here I am at night, 3 pillows to keep me upright so my nose doesn't get too clogged, then I feel a cough coming on. Great, get up on almost all fours, lean over and try and cough and hack up a lung. SO much fun. Don't worry about Kevin, he is snoring through the whole thing. I am the one with the little, to no sleep.

My question is...what do I take? Pretty much anything you can take while pregnant, you can take while breastfeeding, however, the opposite is not entirely true. It has to do with the fact that you share blood with the baby in pregnancy, go figure! Anyhow......It's fun to try and figure out what you can take and can't take. i'm not one to take a whole lot of anything during pregnancy, so this is even more fun. And to top off my complaining....I have this jaw thing that kicked in a few days ago. Never had a problem like this. So i am VERY open to ideas on what might be wrong. If bite down too hard on my back teeth, my jaw socket hurts. In the morning, it feels like I am ripping new muscles to get it to open. then it's okay after awhile, but that pain is always there. Any suggestions?

I promise I try not to complain, especially during pregnancy. I just figured, this is my diary/journal, right? Instead of my brother sneaking in my room to read it and get me in trouble 3 months later for things I did, I'd let you all read now and save me the trouble of getting upset when people "touch my things".

On a lighter note, my doctor's appointment last week went great. I am still measuring right on schedule. With Justin, I was always measuring 2-3 weeks bigger (and WHY they didn't change my due date is beyond me) so this is great news to me. I have gained 19lbs so far, and you may think that isn't a lot. However, at 20 weeks I had gained 1lb and the other 18 caught up with me in 8 weeks. Yeah, my sis in law said my body was playing catch-up (I think she was trying to make me feel better so I didn't start to cry at her house!). I hope my body is done.

This picture is when i was 6 months pregnant with Justin. I'm actually only a little bigger than this picture (or it's my imagination that I am!!)

I am recovering from the flu...It has turned into a sinus infection...and my teeth HURT! Do your teeth hurt from the sinus pressure? Could that be your jaw issue? I was pretty miserable last week, but I am not pregnant...I can only imagine how bad you must feel. I hope you feel better soon!!!!

I only got sick once while I was pregnant and it was bad- Too much stress on the body I guess. good luck recovering. you're so far along - only a FEW more weeks! Just be glad you're not on bedrest...no fun :)

The only thing you can really take during pregnancy is Sudafed. When I got sick in the middle of my pregnancy, that's what I took, and it did help a little.

But, you have to get the Sudafed that's behind the pharmacy counter. The stuff that's on the shelves isn't the right kind, just ask the pharmacist.

Good luck with the cold! That is miserable. I'm glad to hear the doctor's appointments are going well!

The jaw thing is probably just because your ligaments are relaxed during pregnancy right? I had a friend whose hips dislocated every time she stood up. Ah the joys.
You poor thing!

Sorry to hear you've been sick. I remember being sick when I was pregnant and it is pretty awful. Hang in there...As for the jaw thing- could be pregnancy related, but another idea - could you be grinding your teeth at night? That can cause jaw problems. I guess the only way to know that is if Kevin hears you do it while your sleeping. I also know sometimes my jaw hurts when I have sinus problems so...
Hope you're feeling better! -Kirsten
