Kyle's 2nd Birthday

My baby is not a baby anymore. He’s so grown up. Before Kevin left for Alaska, we celebrated his and Kyle’s birthday. I tried to make a semi-cute cake for Kyle (poor kid didn’t have his aunt here to make him a WAY cool cake, like the barn!). It is supposed to be a frog. My sis in law Mary helped it along so it looked MORE like a frog instead of a green blob. Thanks Mary. Kevin got his favorite cake and they enjoyed their birthdays together before Kevin left that night.

Kyle has been so much fun. He started crawling at 4 months and walking by 9 months. He has been full of energy and life since birth. He truly was an easy baby, and now, makes life easy too. He enjoys watching Justin have meltdowns over things. He loves to play with his trucks, diggers, or anything water.

When he was about 21 months, he started taking his diaper off every time he peed. I figured he had to be way young to start potty training. How wrong was I. The kid truly doesn’t like to wear clothing, but that is a different post. After I was done with classes last week, I decided to give potty training a full force ahead instead of a few hours a day. Within 3 days, the kid has not had one pee accident.

Two days ago, we left the house to go to the doctor and run errands. By the time we got home, it had been 3 hours since he had used the bathroom at home. We got inside the house and as I was putting things away, he wandered off. 5 mins later I heard him in the bathroom saying “YAY!!” (which is what we call pee, because when he goes I’m always saying YAY!) He had taken off his pull-up (dry by the way) and peed in his potty and was putting it in the big potty to flush. I love this child. He seriously makes parenting look easy. He is almost completely potty trained, all on his own. I will not take any credit for it. I don’t deserve it. He does all the way!

Thank you Kyle for being so easy and so loveable. Thank you for loving your brothers and your parents. You love life and everyone in it. I love hearing you talk and understanding things so quickly. I love being your mom.

OK, new plan. How about you come visit . . . and potty train Garrett while you are here! (Seriously, you must have a better technique than I do. I learned after 4 previous kids to not start until 2 1/2 . . . but I SURE would like to get rid of diapers for good!

You deserve an easy kid, especially since you've been a single mom for awhile! I hope Kevin's doing good (is he back from Alaska yet?) and hope you are surviving. We definitely missed you at the Hermana reunion. Take care.
